WHAT ABOUT LUNCH & SNACKS?

NUT POLICY: Due to severe nut allergies among our campers, peanut and tree nut products are NOT allowed at Country Day Summer Camp. Please do not send lunches and snacks that contain peanut butter, tree nuts or other nut products. This includes foods that are processed in a plant that may contain nuts. This is for the safety of our campers with allergies. Please assure your child that they can still enjoy their favorite foods at home (make it a positive learning experience on being considerate to those with allergies!)
  • Campers will need to pack a lunch in an insulated lunchbox.
  • Use of a microwave/refrigerator is NOT available.
  • Please send cold/hot packs with child’s lunch.
  • Mark your child’s name on his/her lunchbox and all personal belongings.
  • 2 year old/Pre-K campers will be offered a nutritious snack daily.
  • Grades K-12 campers may pack a snack daily or purchase one from our Snack Locker.

Snack Locker

For campers in Kindergarten and up, the School Snack Locker offers healthy and popular snacks, ranging from 50¢ to $1.00 each. The Snack Locker is open throughout the camp day and after care. (Campers in Pre-K and Toddler camp, snack is supplied).

Choices include items such as bananas, apples, Sun Chips, Cape Cod Chips, Cheez-Its, string cheese, yogurt etc. Ice cream cups and freeze pops are available in the afternoons. Drinks such as bottled water, apple juice and gatorade are always available for purchase. If you choose to utilize the Snack Locker, please discuss choice options with your camper.

Campers may pay with cash, or ask the office about opening up a pre-paid snack account (Snack Card). We can make notations on the Snack Card about what your camper is allowed to have, and we will do our best to make that happen. However, your best option is to discuss snacks with your child, making them responsible for making good choices.

Swimming: CDS Summer Camp employs Red Cross certified lifeguards for swimming in our on-site pool.

Pre-K - Age 4 & 5: Campers receive actual swim lessons by our instructors! Your camper will bring home a swim schedule on Monday. See the Pre-K camp page for additional info, days and times. Apply sunscreen BEFORE coming to camp each morning.

Grades K-5: Campers swim every day as part of their camp day! All campers are evaluated to determine their swim level at the start of each session. Please bring a bathing suit, towel, goggles and flip-flops.  Apply sunscreen BEFORE coming to camp each morning.  Campers may wear their suit to camp in the morning with an appropriate cover up, if desired.  Remember a change of clothes! Wear tennis shoes and bring flip-flops.

Grades 6-9: Swim time is optional for this age group.  Campers that bring swim gear (suit, towel, goggles) will be scheduled to swim if desired.

FIELD TRIPS

Some camps include a field trip, as noted in the camp description. By enrolling your student in the specified camp, you are giving permission camper to participate in any field trip or other program-sponsored activities that may take place. Details of the field trip will be provided at the beginning of each camp week.
PHOTOGRAPHY Country Day School reserves the right to use any photograph or video taken during Country Day Summer Camps in various publications including, but not limited to, website, brochures, yearbook, advertising, promotional or news media coverage.
 LOST & FOUND & ELECTRONICS

Please mark all items brought from home, including towels, goggles, lunchboxes and sunscreen. Lost and Found is located in the Rec Room. Do NOT send toys or electronics to camp. Country Day is not responsible for personal items. Unclaimed items are donated to charity after 2 weeks.

Many parents feel more secure if a camper has a cell phone. Cell phones may be brought to camp. They must remain in the campers bag during camp hours. Cell phones that are used during camp hours will be confiscated by camp counselors. Country Day is not responsible for a cell phone that is lost or damaged. Send one with your child at your own risk.

 WHAT SHOULD MY CAMPER WEAR?

Campers are required to wear CLOSED-TOE SHOES and socks daily. Clothing should be appropriate for indoor/outdoor summer activities.

Camp isn't a fashion show...wear comfortable clothing.  Again, closed-toe shoes, such at sneakers, with socks are required.

No sandals/flip-flops or crocs please.

Some camps (like Horse Camp) require special clothing or equipment.  Please see the descriptions on the Camp List for specifics related to that camp.

Should your camper come without appropriate clothing or footwear, we will make every effort to contact you so that you may bring the required items. Students without athletic shoes will not be able to participate in many outdoor activities, including playground time.

CONDUCT

Country Day reserves the right to dismiss any participant whose conduct or influence is not in the best interests of the camp.  In such event, no refund will be given. Conduct Expectations

ILLNESS & MEDICATIONS

If your camper becomes ill while at camp, we will utilize the contact list you provided upon registration. It is important that you keep your child home if he or she exhibits symptoms of an illness, including a fever of 100 degrees or above. This policy is in the best interest of your child, as well as all of our campers.  Any camper exhibiting these symptoms will be sent home. Our policy is to send home any camper who has a fever or vomits.

Any medications which need to be administered at camp will require a signed permission slip with specific directions. Pinellas County Licensing requires that all medication MUST be handled through the School Office. Do not hand medication to Camp Counselors. A parent or guardian MUST bring in the medication to the office.  Do not leave medication in your child’s lunchbox.
